Elizabeth Erskine (52) survived a heart attack which resulted in a brain injury. Before acquiring her brain injury, Elizabeth worked in the Royal Hospital. This is her story of what happened…
I had a heart attack in 2009 and was unconscious for 45 minutes. As a result of this I acquired a brain injury and now have difficulty walking and breathing. I also have memory problems and forget things very easily. I also get confused and can jumble up my words. I have been coming to Brain Injury Matters NI since 2010 and it has been such a great help to me. I have loved getting to know people in a similar situation to me and it has really helped develop my confidence.
I particularly enjoy taking part in Music Therapy, I find it so relaxing and peaceful.
