Big Lottery Tenth Birthday Celebrations - One Year On!
As part of the Big Lottery 10th birthday celebration in Northern Ireland last year, a competition was held asking people to nominate a group that had changed their life through a project the Big Lottery had funded. They had an overwhelming response, with 301 people nominating 71 groups.
Ten groups won grants of £10,000 each for projects that carry on their good work and nine runners up won £2,000, fof which Brain Injury Matters were one.
The £2,000 Brain Injury Matters received was used for the Let’s Move Project (a project which provides a programme of movement and physical activity for people with an Acquired Brain Injury, guided by sports and neurophysio therapists).
Leah Batchelor was one of the individuals’ that benefitted from the project:
“Before my stroke I was an active person, so when Let’s Move started I was so pleased to get back to exercise outside physio. Let’s Move showed me that everyone, no matter how disabled you are, can do some form of exercise. The project has given me the tools to work exercise into my every day.”
