Training Service

Brain Injury Matters offers training sessions throughout the year for a wide range of audiences including service users, family members, health care professionals, volunteers and other organisations. We can also provide bespoke training tailored to your organisation's needs. Prices available on request.

Brain Injury Awareness

Length: 2.5 hours

This session is suitable for survivors of brain injury and their families; volunteers and anyone who wishes to have a better understanding of brain injury. The course focuses on the causes and effects of brain injury as well as providing practical techniques which can be used when working with survivors of brain injury.

Price: £75pp (£50pp for not for profit organisations), FREE for Brain Injury Matters service users, their families and Brain Injury Matters volunteers only

Enhanced communication after brain injury

Length: 2.5 hours

After a brain injury, many people have difficulties with speaking, listening or being aware of non-verbal communication. This half day course will help you to understand how people communicate as well as gain insight into your own communication skills. This may be particularly useful for family members or carers or if you or your organisation work with people with a brain injury who present difficulty in communicating. The course will also help you:

  • Understand the effects of brain injury on communication skills
  • Identify how problems with communication after brain injury can affect family, social and working life

Managing challenging behaviour following a brain injury

This 2.5 hour session focuses on understanding and managing challenging behaviour and will include:

  • Common Causes of Challenging Behaviour
  • Physiology of Conflict
  • Interventions & Techniques
