What is Family First?
The Family First Service is a specialist support service designed to empower families to support children who have sustained an acquired brain injury (ABI).
Childhood ABI can result in a number of complex challenges for children and their families.
Family First offers an evidence based programme of support to help families and children reach their full potential.
Family First Programme
A family focused programme will be delivered. This programme involves;
- Helping families better understand ABI.
- Explore ways to manage problems that might arise.
- Help keep families connected.
- Help families make gains through an evidence based programme of support.
It adopts a problem solving approach, addressing issues faced by the child and family.
The programme is designed and delivered by our Family First Practitioners in partnership with the Department of Psychological Services, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.
Family First Service Practitioners
Our practitioners work alongside the family to empower the family unit to provide the appropriate support to their child with ABI.
They work in partnership with parents, children and siblings to ensure the family are equipped to take confident steps towards a positive future.
